You can get buildings and content cover to protect your home from damage or burglary. Nationwide provides up to unlimited cover on their Buildings policy, so that you can fix or rebuild your home. For contents insurance, they provide up £50, 000 or over £50, 000 cover. So, you can choose the cover that is right for you.

Buildings Insurance – what it covers

Nationwide provides unlimited cover for your property. So, they will pay for the cost of repairing or rebuilding your home. This includes fire, flood and storm damage.

Alternative accommodation

Nationwide will pay up to £50, 000 for alternative accommodation, if your property becomes uninhabitable due to damage.

Buildings Insurance – tracing and accessing leaks

If your home has any leaks, Nationwide will pay up to £5 000 to trace water or oil leaks from central heating systems or water systems.

Escape of water- unlimited

Nationwide will pay unlimited amount for damages caused by water leaks, such as from a burst pipe.

Buildings Insurance – your liability to the public

AVIVA’s standard building cover will also cover you from any liabilities from the public, as the home owner.

Lost or stolen keys

Nationwide will pay up to £750 to replace external locks to door, garage or your outbuilding.

Up to £2, 000, 000 owner’s liability cover

Nationwide will pay up to £2, 000, 000 for owner’s liability cover. This will cover you for legal accountability for accidents caused in your building. You are also covered for any damage caused by any building work at your property.

Buildings Insurance – what is not covered

  • Damage while you home is unoccupied.
  • Damage due to lack of maintenance.
  • Fences, hedges or gates that are damaged by storm.

Contents Insurance – what is covered

Nationwide will pay for replacing contents in your home. This includes furniture, white goods and kitchen. They will replace lost, stolen or damaged contents that is covered in your policy.

There are two choices. You can cover your contents up to £50, 000 or over £50, 000.

Anything that is shown in the general exclusions including:

  • Gradual wear and tear.
  • Damage due to lack of maintenance.
  • Faulty material or workmanship.
